Choosing a frim's name?

I'm opening up a firm under proprietorship shortly, but the firm name choosen is already choosen by many; I know I can have a firm with the same name under single ownership but what in case I want to expand my business later, and convert into Pvt. Ltd co.? Pl throw some light in it.
