Hey if i drain a fish tank to wash gravel then do i have to cycle the tank again?

i am super tiring after changing my gravel and siphoning the tank. then i realised what the shopkeeper told me was wrong! he told me not to wash it and just add directly into the tank. then i asked somebody and he said"Gravel Residue - If the water is cloudy immediately, or within an hour or two of filling the tank, it's probably due to insufficiently washed gravel. Drain the tank and rinse the gravel until the water runs clear. That should resolve the problem" but if i drain it will the tank need to be cycled again?
