Is it acceptable for you to use false flattery to get ahead?

not really. yesterday I was offered a bunch of poems by someone and asked for an opinion about them. I could of course say that any type of creation is nice and that I might just have different taste that's all. Instead my words were and I quote "I'm sorry, but I can't allow somebody to proceed in stupidity just for the sake of considering themselves artists. Your poems sound like crappy lyrics from a song in a soap opera. You should read some more before even thinking of putting something in the shape of a poem again on a piece of paper".
