When buying military surplus items what are the best colors to choose Olive green,black,ACU or tan?

or in other supplies that will be used for outdoors also BDU's & other accessory's & gear is it all right to get the same colors as what they use now in the military or would it be better to get another color or style of military gear & etc.?
